I am still on 1 Peter study using Susan Heck's material and currently on the subject of church leaders. One of the reference texts is Ezekiel 34. What a timely studies I have been having! So, I've been doing my personal research on Ecclesiology, and in the Lord's provision, all studies I do with online groups are connected to the matter.
Talking about online Bible study, oh, how thankful I am for technology and for parachurches!
When it feels like there is "famine in the land", I still can be fed through online studies and fellowship. I'm not saying this can replace the local church. I have a high view of local church, but I am in the season of grieving as I observe how local churches have failed to feed and disciple God's people. And that's where parachurches can feel like a breath of fresh air.
Honestly, I think if local churches function the way they should, there is no need for parachurches.
Nevertheless, I'm thankful that the Lord sustain me through it, and I know I am not the only one who find this thing helpful. But of course discernment is needed.
